The concept of “natural healing” has been around for thousands of years.
In days of old, herbs, spices, and plants were mixed together, based on recipes handed down from generation to generation, and used to treat physical and emotional ailments.
I have come to strongly sway in the direction of natural medicine over a period of time, and I think that you, too, will come to see the great advantages soon after beginning your exploration of all the wonderful benefits!
After the study and use of essential oils, I wholeheartedly maintain that they hold certain healing properties– properties that can be enjoyed by everyone when the oils are used correctly and safely.
Lavender is one of my all time favorite essential oils because of its broad spectrum of uses, and, of course, its heavenly smell! So, that being said, let’s jump into a few lavender essential oil uses!
Backed By History
There are 188 references to essential oils in the Bible. Ancient Egyptians used essential oils in the embalming process.
Other ancient peoples used the oils religiously to cleanse and purify themselves. In a nutshell, the oils were the first “medicine” used by man.
I don’t know about you, but that’s enough to convince me that there’s something about essential oils that is worth trying!
An Oil of Many Properties
I love lavender for many reasons, the primary being that it is effective in the treatment of so many things. Seriously-there’s not much that you cannot use lavender for! This comes in super handy if you are just getting started with essential oils and are trying to decide between a few (it would break anyone’s budget to buy them all at one time!).
If you are attempting to stick with one or two essential oils to begin your collection, lavender is a must-have staple. Below is a small list of some of the properties of lavender:
These are only A FEW of the properties contained in the lavender essential oil.
Dab a few drops onto the neck, or behind the ear to achieve a sedative effect, and you may notice that you feel different in more ways than one, because of all the amazing healing properties in lavender oil.
An Oil of COUNTLESS Uses!
As briefly mentioned before, lavender oil will likely manifest itself throughout the body when applied. Mmmm…healing from the inside out, what a beautiful concept! below I have listed a few of the oil’s most widely known uses:
- Balancing the entire body
- Bee Stings
Are you tracking with me yet? This essential oil is AWESOME.
I have also used it personally to try to combat nausea during my pregnancies, and as a relaxant in my bath water at night.
The beauty of lavender is that it is not irritating to the skin, so its fairly safe to apply it almost anywhere on the body.
How To Use and Apply
Lavender essential oil may be applied in a few different ways, IF the oil is 100% therapeutic grade. It may be applied directly to the affected area, diluted with a carrier oil such as almond or grape seed, ingested, or diffused into the air with a diffuser.
I mentioned before that I added it to bath water. You can most definitely get creative with this oil.
Add it to a sugar scrub, a body wash, or a shaving cream, or add a drop or two to an evening cup of tea to unwind.
This particular essential oil is a universal oil and will generally work wherever there is a need.
Therefore, if you are suffering from an insect bite or sunburn, or something of the like, you would obviously want to apply directly to affected area, but if the ailment is not limited to a certain area of the body, the lavender oil can be applied to the body and it will basically do its job throughout.
Another fabulous thing to consider is that, when applied to the body, the oil will inadvertently bring natural aid to the cardiovascular system, nervous system, and begin to bring emotional balance to the body. And, let’s be real. We could all use a little emotional balance!
Apply and Go
To conclude, lavender is a Jack of all trades, if you will. I love it, my clients love it, and I think you will love it, too.
There is no need to check the clock, or keep track of applications. It can be used and applied whenever the need arises.
You can stow away a bottle in your purse, and keep one on the nightstand as well in order to have constant access.
I would strongly recommend adding this oil to your daily regimen- and the best part about it is, while the multi-functional oil is at work in and on your body, you’ll smell like a dream also!
